As a graduate student at Caltech, I won first prize in a contest that was intended to lampoon president Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative a.k.a Star Wars defense program. I was interviewed on NPR, and several other stations, and I got a lot of attention for it. As the winner, I received a personal computer with 256kb of RAM! I extended that to 640kb, and part of it could be used as a virtual hard drive! I was very excited.
